This site has an awesome post about designing blogs well. Some highlights include

• Readability and text styling, including lists, padding, paragraphs, use of bold, and sub-headers

I thought the site gave good examples of some things to consider when designing (or re-designing) a blog. I'm kind of in the mood re-design now.
